Costa Rica's Central Valley

Home to the capital of San Jose, the Central Valley is a very popular place to live in Costa Rica. The proximity to the International and National Airports is convenient for many foreign residents. The mild weather ranges from 65 to 85 degrees F. Exclusive locations such as Escazu, Santa Ana, Grecia, Cariari, Sabana and Rohrmoser are preferred by many foreign residents.

The town of Escazu has an appealing rural charm and is called our Beverly Hills of Costa Rica and perfectly blends with its high-rise condominiums, fine homes, elegant estates, and standard local housing. The beautiful hills of Escazu and Santa Ana provide great views of the Central Valley, Alajuela and Heredia.

Escazu and Santa Ana are surrounded by shopping malls, cinemas, good restaurants, nightlife and plenty more. The exclusive Costa Rica Country Club & Golf Course with professional tennis courts is located in town. The United States Ambassador lives nearby.

San Antonio de Belen, la Guacima and La Garita are also preferred neighborhoods. There are local restaurants, small hotels and limited tourist activity, but the main attraction is the climate.

Grecia is a rural town that offers a tranquil lifestyle with beautiful views and close by conveniences. For those who prefer the quiet rural lifestyle this is a charming and friendly town. Many Europeans and Americans enjoy this community.

San Isidro de General is the second largest city in Costa Rica and gives you the real flavor of the Costa Rican people.  With festivities happening frequently from Art Fairs, Concerts, dancing, fireworks and Expositiions of all kinds exhibited in the newly renovated Central Park.  Many retirees prefer San Isidro as the cost of living and property prices are lower than other areas of Costa Rica.  The climate is fresh with warm days ranging from 80-90% and cool evenings from 60-70 degrees and always enjoying a fresh breeze.  The new international airport will be constructed just 40 minutes south.  Many nature lovers come to enjoy hiking Mount Chirripo or birdwatching and take in the beauty of our famous Quetzal.  Just 40 minutes to the beach if you want to surf or enjoy the white sand beaches.
